The Challenging Subject Matter Expert Storyboard
I created a text-based storyboard for The Challenging Subject Matter Expert (SME) scenario-based eLearning concept project. I charted the learner journey, content delivery, and planned the overall look and feel of this learning experience.
Audience: New instructional designers
Course Purpose: The purpose of this course is for new instructional designers to begin or continue to build their toolbox of techniques to use to navigate challenging subject matter expert (SME) behavior.
The Problem
If a subject matter expert (SME) is unclear of their role when partnering with an instructional designer, their actions and behavior can impede or delay the instructional design process. It is important for new instructional designers to have the skills to effectively navigate challenging SME behavior.
The Solution
I proposed creating a scenario-based eLearning experience for new instructional designers to practice navigating challenging SME behavior when faced with these situations in a real-life.
My Process
Instructional Design Document
I created an instructional design document for a high level overview of this scenario-based learning experience. In this document I identified the course purpose, objectives, and audience profile.
Storyboard Design
I created a storyboard to chart the learner journey through this scenario-based eLearning experience. In this document I included learning objectives, character dialogue, graphics, interactive buttons, and programming notes.
Once completed, I used this document to develop the Challenging Subject Matter Expert learning experience in Rise 360.
